When Werner von Siemens invented the dynamo in 1866, development of electrical engineering, with the promise of success, started in earnest.

Paul Rauschert Sr., the mill grinding technician from Mark Brandenburg, recognized the big opportunity and on 01.07.1898, founded a factory for manufacturing porcelain for electrical purposes in Hüttengrund / Thüringen.

By 1904, he was running three circular furnaces and with 150 employees, manufactured insulators for overhead transmission lines, as well as beer bottle stoppersand furniture knobs.

On the 25th anniversary of the founding of his company, the 65-year old founder was the owner of a successful industrial group. He had taken over other works in the Kronach district and expanded them into modern factories: in 1909 Pressig, under the management of his brother-in-law and part-owner Ernst Metzler,in 1912, Steinwiesen, managed by his son Paul and in 1914, Steinbach am Wald, managed by his son Carl. 

The product range had expanded to include porcelain for illumination purposes (smoke traps for gas lamps), thread guides, accumulator porcelain, anchoring insulators and a large number of smaller daily use articles. The hourly wage was 16 pfennigs.

An eventful period came to an end with the 2nd World War: in 1924, Carl Rauschert had a fatal road accident. Paul had to return to the mother factory. His younger brother Egon took over Steinwiesen.

In 1927, the Rauschert Group acquired an important competitor, Porzellanfabriken Gebr. Pohl (Pohl Brothers Porcelain Works) in Schmiedeberg, with branch works in Erdmannsdorf and Haselbach. Paul Rauschert Jr. took over its management. Rauschert now had 2200 employees. Steatite and pyrolite (cordierite) was added to the production range.Paul Rauschert Sr. died in 1929.

The global economic crises hit Rauschert hard. In 1931/32, Rauschert only had 60 employees. Owing to inheritance disputes, Rauschert lost the factories at Hüttengrund and Steinwiesen in 1933 and at the end of World War II, the Schlesian works.

In 1940, Gottfried Paul Rauschert and 1944, Paul Ernst Metzler joined the company and together with Paul and Egon Rauschert, started the re-building of the enterprise.

Im Jubiläumsjahr blickt Rauschert nach überwundenen Schwierigkeiten optimistisch in die Zukunft.

In 1950, the Oberbettingen works started operations under Gottfried Rauschert. The factories in Pressig and Steinbach a.W., which had survived the war, also went full steam ahead. In 1965, Rauschert acquired the erstwhile Steinwiesen factory back. Dietrich Rauschert took over the management. In 1966, together with the bottle stopper business, 30% of the Rauschert turnover was lost. Rainer Kober, who was a managing director since 1969, therefore started the presentation items program in the particularly badly affected Steinwiesen works, the "Funny Design" program.

1967 expansion of the production range with plastic injection molding in Oberbettingen. Rauschert had a total of 600 employees.

In this jubilee year, Rauschert could now look back on 25 years of continuous expansion.

In 1973, together with a big customer, Rauschert went to Portugal and founded Rauschert Portuguesa.

1976: Start of the business sector Process Engineering with new products and own plants for chemicals and environment protection.

1978: Acquisition of the production of thread guides of aluminum oxide from Friedrichsfeld (Degussit).

In 1982, inception of the US factory in Madisonville/Tennessee.

In 1990 Roland Paul Rauschert, in 1993 Dr. Richard Metzler and in 1997 Thomas Paul Rauschert became General Manager.

In 1994 Rauschert acquired an equity stake in a Czech manufacturer of pressed porcelain. The Elpor-Rauschert s.r.o., Bohosudov company was found.

In 1995, Rauschert obtained
ISO 9001 certification for its in-house quality assurance system.

In 1996, Rauschert acquired the Porzellanwerk Kloster Veilsdorf in Thüringen, an important competitor before the war and after the reunification. Moreover, the Czech Rauschert s.r.o. was founded in Horny Slavkov. 

1997 Rauschert took over the former Silesian Rauschert factory Erdmannsdorf, now Myslakowice, Poland.

1998 A new factory is built up in Heinersdorf/Thuringia.

Rauschert has now 1500 employees at 10 sites.

The fast-growth company was restructured into divisions and different divisions were made legally autonomous entities.

2002 starts with the acquisition of a ceramics factory in Barcelona, Rauschert Espana. In the same year, the production of ceramic construction elements starts in Hermsdorf (PTC-ceramics).

2003 Rauschert Italia is founded Expansion on the South European market.

2003 - 2005 With the foundation of sites in China (Shanghai, Kunshan), India (Pondicherry) and Mexico (Aguascalientes) Rauschert is responding to the challenges of a global market.

2006 Inopor is founded. The joint venture is about to being established as a competitive supplier of ceramic filtration.
In the same year the business field Process Engineering is sold.

Today Rauschert, a global playing enterprise with 17 sites offers products made to measure in high-tech ceramics and plastics.
