Aluminium oxide RAPAL
 
Oxide ceramics are playing a leading role in modern ceramic applications and aluminium oxide is proving to be the favourite.

The outstanding features are high levels of hardness and wear resistance, thermal conductivity, electrical insulation even at high temperatures, corrosion-resistance against diluted acids and caustic solutions, and a low coefficient of friction surface.

RAPAL is our trade name for a range of oxide ceramic materials containing high purity aluminia.


Material
  Aluminium oxide RAPAL is an oxide ceramical material on a base of high purity aluminias. By sintering the specifically developed powders at high temperatures, a dense, ceramic material approaching diamond hardness can be created. Components are produced in aluminium oxide by dry pressing, injection moulding, extrusion and isostatical pressing. Excellent dimensional tolerances and flatness can be achieved by machining with diamond tools.

RAPAL has the essential characteristics of high hardness, strenght and abrasion resistance and reproducible sufrace finish. RAPAL is particularly appropriate for: Barings and seals used in pumps and fittings, textile thread guides, guides for wires and cables.

For many applications RAPOX is comparable with RAPAL even through its hardness and strength are slightly lower. One of its special features is its excellent sliding property. Typical applications for RAPOX are: Ignitor insulation, wear resistant plates, sensor bodies and pump rings.
