Ceramic Coatings

Ceramic layers on steel or aluminium have excellent characteristics. They are wear resistant, have a high abrasion resistance as well as electrical and thermal insulation.

Ceramic coating is a cost-efffective way of extending life-time of machines and its stable surface helps to ensure product quality.

As a competent supplier of ceramic coatings Rauschert also manufactures technical ceramics and plastic components.

Process

Ceramic coating by thermal spraying

Production

Ceramic coatings are applied by thermal spraying on to a pre-treated metal surface and can be finished to suit the application.
During the process, thick metal parts can reach temperatures of 200°C, which will not alter the metallurgy of the steel or aluminium being coated.

An advantage is that the customer can choose the basic metal material.

Spread-sheet Porous Ceramics

Surface Properties

Applications
Ceramic coatings exceed hard chrome layers in hardness and wear resistance.
They have been proven in textile and wire machinery, soldering and welding devices, electrical insulation layers on heating condutcors up to 500V and 600°C and thermal insulation layers in the glass industry.

For use in humid or corrosive environments we rcommend using a corrosion resistant material for the parts to be coated, like stainless steel 4301 and aluminium.

Additionally the pores can be impregnated by organic and inorganic sealant.

Inquiries

To enable us to forward quotations please send a drawing or a sketch showing the area to be coated, surface finish required and the quantities needed.
